The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee heard testimony on legislation to prohibit “gag clauses” that allow businesses to pursue legal action against customers who post unfavorable consumer reviews. Witnesses included a plaintiff involved in a federal lawsuit against an online merchant that stems from a negative review she gave the company about its customer service practices. Representatives from the National Association of Consumer Advocates and the online review travel site TripAdvisor also testified. close
