Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates
Brian Kilmeade talked about his book Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates, which he co-wrote with Don Yaeger. In the book, the authors examine President Thomas Jefferson’s efforts to thwart the capture of American ships by pirates off of Africa’s Barbary Coast in the early 19th century. In his book, the author reports that President Jefferson ultimately dispatched the U.S. Navy to prevent incursions from Tripoli, which resulted in the start of the Barbary Wars. close
