Secret Service Director Joseph Clancy testified at a joint hearing of two Senate Homeland Security and House Homeland Security subcommittees on challenges facing his agency, including recent incidents of misconduct by agents. Director Clancy apologized for the misconduct of his employees who inappropriately utilized an internal database to access the applicant records of Representative Jason Chaffetz (R-UT). He called the actions “inexcusable and unacceptable” and said disciplinary steps have been taken. Other witnesses included the Homeland Security Department inspector general. close
