The Supreme Court heard oral argument in Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, docket number 14-915, a case that could end the practice of nonunion public employees paying fees to unions. A group of California teachers were challenging the California law, arguing that their First Amendment free speech rights are violated when they are forced to pay dues to the state teacher’s union which supports political agendas they oppose. close
