Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson spoke to reporters about updates to the National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS). This revision added an “intermediate” threat advisory level called a “bulletin” intended to bring awareness about general threats of terrorism to the public. During the briefing Secretary Johnson issued such a bulletin to warn about the threat of homegrown extremists and so-called “self-radicalized actors” who he said could strike with little or no notice. He also outlined some of the increased security measures that would be taken in the coming weeks. Secretary Johnson spoke at Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Headquarters. close
