The Food and Drud Administration held a press conference call with Dr. Peter Marks, deputy director of the FDA’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research, to discuss the FDA’s final guidance on recommendations for reducing the risk of HIV transmission by blood and blood products. The Food and Drug Administration planed to lift its lifetime ban on blood donation for men who had had sex with other men, and would propose replacing it with a one-year ban after homosexual activity. close
