Senator John Thune (R-SD), speaking on the chamber floor the morning of President Obama’s State of the Union address, offered his own assessment on the state of the union. He cited global unrest and ISIS* as challenges facing the country as well as “the worst economic recovery since the Eisenhower administration” and “ever-increasing government burdens” on families. He predicted the president would “take a victory lap, despite the fact that the American people clearly don’t think there’s much to celebrate.”
