Leon Rodriguez talked about steps U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is taking to intensify the screening of refugees seeking asylum and new immigrants coming into the country. Steps USCIS might take include more intensive screening of fiancé visas and review of social media for people from some countries. Those issues were getting greater scrutiny in the aftermath of the December 2, 2015, San Bernardino shooting of 14 people by an American-born man with Pakistani roots and his Pakistani-born wife who came to the U.S. on a fiancé visa. Other topics discussed included efforts to digitize the old paper immigration filing system, the increased flow of migrants from Central America into the U.S., and reform of the U.S. immigration system. After the interview the reporters discussed his responses with the host. close
