Governor Terry Branstad (R-IA) talked about the Iowa caucuses, presidential candidates, and issues facing Iowans ahead of the February 1, 2016, caucuses in his state. Governor Branstad had not endorsed anyone, but criticized Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for his views on renewable energy and said they were likely to affect Iowans' caucus votes. He also said that there were likely to be four or five Republican campaigns surviving Iowa, and not the three that people generally expected. Further, he expected a record turnout at the 2016 caucuses. Governor Branstad participated by remote video in Des Moines. After the interview the reporters in the studio discussed his responses with the host. close
