Brad Wyche talked about the early history of the Reedy River and how its rebirth has helped rebuild Greenville, South Carolina. A waterfall on the Reedy River first caught the eye of businessmen interested in building a textile mill. The city’s success as a textile center led to pollution on the river. In the 1960's a Greenville group called the Carolina Foothills Garden Club decided to build a park with the waterfall as its centerpiece.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2016 LCV Cities Tour” in Greenville, South Carolina, from January 16-22 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
