Senators responded to an announcement by Republican leaders that the Judiciary Committee would not hold hearings if President Obama were to submit a Supreme Court nominee. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) had said that the Senate would wait until after the next president picked a nominee. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) paid tribute to the late Justice Scalia and then summed up the official Republican position about choosing a successor.
