Ashley Rogers gave a tour of the Whitney Plantation, a Louisiana plantation that traces its history to 1752, when a German immigrant bought the land to grow indigo and later converted to growing and processing sugar cane. The plantation re-opened as a slave museum in 2014 after a ten year, $8 million renovation, and is now devoted to telling the story of slavery. close
