The House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Select Investigative Panel on Infant Lives held a hearing on the bioethical issues surrounding fetal tissue transplant research. The investigative panel was created by Republicans in 2015 in response to released videos of Planned Parenthood practices. At the start of the hearing, Ranking Member Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) ordered to retract subpenoas issued by Chair Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), but members voted against the motion. Witnesess testifying at the hearing included bioethics professors and biomedical experts. close
