Government Mistrust and Civic Participation
“Civics in the Age of Mistrust” was part of the 2015-16 John E. Sawyer Seminar on the Comparative Study of Cultures.
Internet activist and blogger Ethan Zuckerman, who runs the Center for Civic Media at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab, addressed a student audience at Rice University about civic participation at moments of high mistrust of government. He also talked about technology’s role in social change and shaping norms.
