Amina Fazlullah and Daniel Lyons talked about the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Lifeline program, which subsidizes phone service for poorer Americans. FCC Chair Tom Wheeler proposed expanding the program to include broadband. Tom Wheeler’s proposal would extend the service to internet access in a bid to bridge a digital divide between higher and lower-income Americans. The guests assessed the strengths and weaknesses of Lifeline and of proposals to expand it to broadband. close
