Two Politico reporters interviewed Secretary Defense Ashton Carter about U.S. defense policy and national security. Topics included ISIS, and North Korea, China, and Russia, Regarding North Korea’s overnight ballistic missile launch off the west coast of the Korean peninsula, Secretary Carter said the U.S. had positioned missile defense assets in anticipation of North Korean provocation. He also announced that General Lori Robinson has been nominated to lead U.S. Northern Command (NORTHCOM), which would make her the first woman to lead a combatant command in Pentagon history.
