The Supreme Court heard oral argument in Zubik v. Burwell, docket number 14-1418, seven consolidated cases challenging whether the Affordable Care Act’s contraceptive coverage mandate violates the Religious Freedom Restoration Act by forcing religious nonprofit organizations to act in violation of their religious beliefs. They argue that the “opt-out” option provided makes them complicit in committing an act they consider a sin.
