Mitchell Yockelson talked about his book, Forty-Seven Days: How Pershing’s Warriors Came of Age to Defeat the German Army in World War I. Mr. Yockelson focused on General “Black Jack” Pershing’s biography and stories of those under his command. Appointed to lead the American Expeditionary Forces by President Wilson in 1917, General Pershing led his army to victory in the 1918 Battle of Meuse-Argonne. Mr. Yockelson argued this victory was a major factor in ending World War I and a turning point for U.S. Army fighting strategies. close
