The opening ceremonies of the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel, attended by President and Mrs. Obama, included the presentation of colors and the U.S. Marine Band. After the dinner was served first lady Michelle Obama assisted in the presentation of scholarships. Journalism awards were also presented and guests honored. While the dinner was served Tweets from viewers and attendees were shared. Brief portions of interviews with WHCA President Carol Lee and comedian Larry Wilmore were shown. Clips were also shown of interviews with Nina Totenberg, Valerie Jarrett, and Vivica Fox at pre-parties the previous day.  close
