Senator Mark Kirk (R-IL) spoke with reporters following a meeting with U.S. Court of Appeals of D.C. Chief Judge Merrick Garland, President Obama’s nominee to replace the late Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonin Scalia. Senator Kirk was the first Republican senator to meet with the nominee. He called for a “rational, adult, open-minded” following of the constitutional process by his Republican colleagues. Judge Garland did not respond to questions. close
