Paterson, author of The Hip-Hop Underground and African American Culture: Beneath the Surface; Marcyliena Morgan, author of The Real Hiphop: Battling for Knowledge, Power, and Respect in the LA Underground; and Joan Morgan, author of When Chickenheads Come Home to Roost: A Hip=Hop Feminist Breaks It Down.

“Decoded: Hip-Hop and Youth Culture” was part of the 13th National Black Writers Conference, which took place from March 31-April 3, 2016, in New York City, and was sponsored by the Center for Black Literature at Medgar Evers College.
