Before the daily White House briefing, President Obama made a statement regarding the Treasury Department’s release the previous day of new guidelines intended to reduce corporate tax inversions. A corporate inversion is when a company re-incorporates abroad or merges with a foreign company in order to reduce its corporate tax burden. He said Americans end up paying the tab when companies do that and that Congress needed to act in order to totally eliminate them. He also responded to a question on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s latest proposal that would prevent undocumented immigrants form sending money back home to their country. close
