A day-long conference was held examining historical and current perspectives of surveillance of the black community. 

Presentations and panel discussions were held: “Predictive Policing - and Sentencing,” with Andrew Ferguson, Kristi Lane Scott, Sonja Starr, Chinyeré Tutashinda, and Arjun Sethi; “Disrupting City Hall” by Eugene Puryear; “Surveillance After 9/11” by Sahar Aziz; “The Racial Gaze” by Simone Browne, Osagie Obasogie, and Paul Butler; and “Race and Facial Recognition Technology” by Clare Garvie and Jonathan Frankle.

“The Color of Surveillance: Government Monitoring of the African American Community” was held by Georgetown Law and the Center on Privacy and Technology. close
