The commission met to hear testimony on a proposal for the closure of six additional U.S. military bases to be added to the list of military bases slated for closure by the Department of Defense earlier in the year. The members debated the proposal, which would add three U.S. Army and three U.S. Navy facilities to the list of bases to be closed in line with the realignment of the Department of Defense to meet post-Cold War security threats. close
