U2 lead singer Bono and Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken were among the witnesses at a hearing on resources needed to combat violent extremism. The witnesses said the United States and its allies need to boost their aid to foreign nations as a way to combat the poverty and poor living-conditions that have been driving some people to radicalize and carry out violent attacks in Western Europe.
