The Folger Shakespeare Library marked the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare on April 23, 1616. The program featured actors, community leaders, artists, and scholars sharing their connections to Shakespeare through personal stories. The Reduced Shakespeare Company performed a sketch and clips were shown from videos submitted to the “Share Your Shakespeare Story” Web site. Then, Peter Slen moderated as Shakespeare scholars Michael Witmore and Ellen MacKay responded to telephone calls, electronic communications, and questions from members of the audience in the Folger’s historic Paster Reading Room.
