Witnesses from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and oversight officials testified at a sometimes contentious hearing on ongoing delays in providing health care to veterans. Committee members also raised concerns about whistleblower retaliation, employee manipulation of wait times, and lack of VA disciplinary action. Government Accountability Office (GOA) health care director Debra Draper emphasized the continued failure of the VA in providing veterans with timely health care. The GAO lists the VA health care system on its “2015 High Risk Report.” close
