Vietnam War veterans reflected on their wartime experiences during the Battle of Ia Drang, which journalists called the bloodiest confrontation of Vietnam. The November 1965 battle in the Ia Drang Valley was the first major battle between the United States Army and North Vietnamese soldiers. The battle lasted for three days, resulting in major American casualties. Joseph Galloway, a former war correspondent with United Press International, moderated the panel. He was the only civilian to receive a Bronze Star for his participation in Vietnam.
