Dan Rather and Peter Arnett talked about their work as war correspondents during the Vietnam War and how their experiences compared with the U.S. government’s official version of the war. Dan Rather’s Vietnam reports aired on CBS from 1965 to 1966, and Peter Arnett worked in Vietnam for the Associated Press from 1962 to 1975. Andrew Sherry, a former foreign correspondent, moderated the conversation. This program began with a two-minute video clip of Dan Rather reporting from Vietnam. “The War and the Fourth Estate” was a panel at a three-day “Vietnam War Summit” held at the LBJ Presidential Library in Austin, Texas. close
