General James Mattis, former commander of U.S. Central Command, spoke about security and military challenges in the Middle East. In his remarks he said Iran is the most enduring threat to stability and peace in the Middle East. He identified five potential military threats from Iran, and said the regime has increased its support for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. He said the situation in Syria must be resolved with a political solution and backed up with military support. Following his remarks, General Mattis took questions from the audience. close
