President Obama spoke to student journalists from universities around the country and responded to their questions. The president came in as White House Spokesperson Josh Earnest was giving a special briefing to the students participating in a “White House College Reporter Day.” President Obama said he wanted to share “a bit of breaking news” about expanding one of the administration’s student loan initiatives. He also talked about the importance of the Senate confirming his nomination of Judge Garland Merrick to the U.S. Supreme Court. The president answered questions on topics including college affordability, student loans, civic engagement, and the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. close
