The J. Anthony Lukas Prize is given by the Nieman Foundation and the Columbia University School of Journalism to non-fiction books on an American topic. The finalists for 2016 included Susan Southard, author of Nagasaki: Life After Nuclear War; Dale Russakoff, author of The Prize: Who’s in Charge of America’s Schools; Nikolaus Wachsmann, KL: A History of Concentration Camps; and Timothy Snyder, author of Black Earth: The Holocaust as History and Warning. close
