He talked about the decision to award former House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) and Vice President Joe Biden (D) with the Laetare Award and the choice to have retired General Martin Dempsey, former chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as the commencement speaker. The commencement ceremony was held May 15, 2016, in South Bend, Indiana. close
