State Department Special Envoy for Libya Jonathan Winer, Libyan Embassy Charge D’Affaires Wafa Bugaighis, and Middle East scholars delivered remarks at the Middle East Institute on the challenges of combating ISIL* in Libya. Panelists also discussed the role of Libya’s Government of National Accord, and the decision to supply the Libyan government with weapons. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Joseph Dunford said U.S. military advisers could be deployed to Libya any day to help combat ISIL.
