Panelists talked about the use of antibiotics on livestock. In 2013, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) passed guidelines on limiting the use of antibiotics for growth purposes. It’s widely believed that overuse of antibiotics is one of the reasons for the increasing number of bacterial viruses resistant to antibiotic drugs in humans.

“Antibiotic Resistance and Use in Livestock: Farming for the Future” was the second panel of “Vote Food 2016: Better Food, Better Health,” a day-long conference held in McDonough Hall of the Georgetown University Law Center. close
