Hoover Dam
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2016 LCV Cities Tour” in Las Vegas, Nevada, from May 7-13 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Cox Communication cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Rose Davis gave a tour of Hoover Dam, located on the border of Nevada and Arizona, and spoke about its history. The dam was built along the Colorado River during the Great Depression and provided not only flood control, crop irrigation, and hydroelectric power for the southwestern states, but also jobs for many in the city of Las Vegas.
