The chair and ranking member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, Senators Jim Inhofe (R-OK) and Barbara Boxer (D-CA), as well as several other senators spoke about an update to the 1976 Toxic Substances Control Act. The bill, which was named after the Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), would give the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) the power to regulate chemicals used in products.
