Holocaust survivor Louise Lawrence-Israels recalled going into hiding with her family after German forces invaded the Netherlands. Ms. Lawrence-Israels celebrated her second and third birthdays in an Amsterdam apartment “hidden in plain sight” using false identification papers acquired by her father.
