President Obama spoke at his eighth annual White House reception honoring lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. He talked about the progress that had been made to advance LGBT rights and warned against being complacent but to continue the work to help those suffering from HIV/AIDS and to prevent discrimination and persecution in the U.S. and around the world. The annual White House event was held in accordance with the president’s declaration of June as LGBT Pride Month. close
