The Senate held a moment of silence for the victims of the June mass shooting at an Orlando, Florida, gay nightclub. Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) then remarked on the shooting and as well death of former Senator George Voinovich (R-OH). Senator Reid said the Senate had done “nothing” to stop such mass shootings, and called for gun control. Following Senator Reid, Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) also spoke. close
