John Lynch talked about the history of the Vanderbilt Television News Archive. Mr. Lynch shared what he considers to be highlights of the archive and spoke about how the news industry has changed since 1968. Paul Simpson, a Nashville businessperson and Vanderbilt graduate started the archive in August 1968. Since then, the archive has recorded the nightly news programs for ABC, CBS, and NBC, and more recently CNN and Fox News.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2016 LCV Cities Tour” in Nashville, Tennessee, from April 16-22 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
