Dr. Patrick Conway testified at a hearing on proposed changes to Medicare Part B, which covers injectable and infused drugs for elderly patients. He outlined the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) five-year pilot program that would change how hospitals and doctors are reimbursed for outpatient drugs. The new plan would decrease the percentage of money paid to providers for drugs from 6 to 2.5 percent. The change in payments is designed to move away from a fee-for-service system to one that is value-based. close
