Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair made a statement to the press regarding the Chilcot Report on the U.K.'s involvement in Iraq. The report covers a seven-year inquiry into the British decision to follow the U.S. in the Iraq invasion and claims that the intelligence case for war was “not justified” and that Saddam Hussein posed no “imminent threat” at the time of the invasion in 2003. Former Prime Minister Blair said that the report acknowledged there were no lies about the decision to go into Iraq but that there were serious criticisms for the decision made. He said it was the hardest decision of his term and accepted responsibility. He expressed condolences for the lives lost and acknowledged the job done by the armed forces. He also answered questions from reporters. close
