Leaders and members of the Congressional Black Caucus held a news conference calling on fellow lawmakers to pass legislation aimed at reducing gun violence and the use of fatal force by police. The news conference happened a day after five Dallas police officers were shot and killed, and just days after two separate incidents of black civilians being fatally shot by police officers in Louisiana and Minnesota. One member, Representative Cedric Richmond, (D-LA), called on House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) to move quickly on calling up gun control legislation in the chamber. close
