The Center for American Progress, the Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality, and the National Employment Law Project hosted a forum on unemployment insurance and its impact on the economy. In the first panel Jason Furman and House Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Sander Levin (D-MI) outlined changes needed to modernize the unemployment insurance program. Then, Laquita Hatcher, a recipient of unemployment benefits, talked about how the insurance helped her and her family while she looked for a job after being laid off from her job.
