President Obama Statement on the Killing of Baton Rouge Police President Barack Obama made a statement to reporters about the killing of three police officers in Baton Rouge earlier in the day. In his remarks he called on Americans to focus on words and actions that unite rather than divide the country, and to follow the example of unity and order set in Dallas following the July 7, 2016, shooting in which five police officers were shot and killed during a protest.  close
