USCGC Bramble Robert Klingler gave a tour of the USCGC Bramble, one of nearly 40 180-foot ships built for the Coast Guard during World War II. The ship now serves as a museum. Mr Klinger spoke about the ship’s historic roles in testing atomic weapons in 1946, patrolling Guantanamo Bay, and breaking ice at the North Pole. Former captain Charlie Park also spoke about his experiences commanding the ship during the 1970s.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2016 LCV Cities Tour” in Port Huron, Michigan, from June 18-23 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
