Disarm Hate held a rally to speak out against gun violence and to voice support for LGBTQ rights. The group organized formed in response to the June 2016 mass shooting at the Pulse gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida. Speakers included family members of victims of the Orlando and the 2012 elementary school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut; transgender activists; and members of the health care community. The event also included musical performances by singers Randi Driscoll and Sasha Allen. Among the many groups supporting the rally were the National Action Network, the Brady Campaign to End Gun Violence and the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
