C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2016 LCV Cities Tour” in Denver, Colorado, from July 5-10 to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Len Vlahos and Kristen Gilligan talked about Denver, Colorado’s Tattered Cover Book Store. Founded in 1971, Tattered Cover is an important location for literary culture in Denver. Joyce Meskis, who ran the store since 1974, decided to retire and pass the reigns to someone else. Husband and wife team Len Vlahos and Kristen Gilligan agreed to take over the day-to-day operations and were halfway through their two-year training process at the time of this interview.
