Director of National Intelligence James Clapper discussed the role of the intelligence community during presidential transitions. After his opening remarks he was interviewed by Letitia Long. He provided some insight on the intelligence briefings being provided to presidential nominees Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. In addition, Director Clapper reiterated President Obama’s remarks on the recent Democratic National Committee (DNC) cyber hack saying, “the Russians hack our systems all the time, not just government but also corporate.” He also discussed cybersecurity, combating ISIL*, classified information rules, and intelligence sharing.

“The State of U.S. Intelligence: The Enterprise View” was the first plenary session of the third annual Intelligence and National Security Summit.

*The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS or DAISH/DAESH in Arabic), is a militant group that has called itself the Islamic State. close
